| It is no big surprise to anyone that I pursued a career in Art Education.
My motivation... Daveda Movitz's Saturday classes, Mrs. Wyman's tooth brush spatter
paint fall leave project, and that smell of the mimeo machine chemicals! I attended
Mass College of Art and majored in Art Education, my first job was in Newton teaching
at NNHS, I taught students with disabilities and traveled around to every school in Newton.
I did meet up with Mr. Tefft who in 1980 was teaching a very happy class of fifth graders
in Newtonville. I managed to stay employed even when art was cut from most every school,
but juggled up to 8 jobs at a time. This crazy schedule plus the pursuit of benefits sent
me into the non-profit world where I was the program coordinator for Very Special Arts Mass.
an organization that brings art experiences to children with disabilities. I found that
I missed being wth kids and left my administrative job to return to the classroom and
taught in Stow, Mass for 12 years with total DIVA status. This past year I left Stow
and the 2 hour commute to be closer to home and my daughters; Emalie is in the sixth
grade and Sara is in the fourth grade. My husband Marc is a landscape painter and makes
his living doing 3-D animation for architects. In my spare time (yah right) I am a fiber
artist and have managed to have several shows and have some work in a gallery in Boston and R.I. I am looking forward to the reunion, I can't wait to reminisce with all of you about candy from Miss Joy, the annual pumpkin sale and the infamous chocolate covered ants that turned up at the Williams School bake sale... who made those anyway? [Hey, I liked those ants! --Arleigh]

| Feingold, Lila Jan feingoll@arps.org |
| Lila moved out of Auburndale halfway through fourth grade and never liked
school again. Nonetheless, a year after finishing high school she found herself enrolled
at Brandeis University. There, she incidentally majored in ceramic sculpture, inadvertantly
minored in French, and actually spent the bulk of her time involved in radio, leftist and
feminist politics, and splashing around the salt marshes near the Seabrook, NH, nuclear
plant with a couple thousand fellow gas-mask-wearing idealists. Upon graduating college, Lila moved to Santa Cruz, CA, where she became a graphic artist, produced concerts, and played a lot of traditional Irish, old-time, Quebecois and contra-dace music. However, in spite of the beauty of Santa Cruz County and the easy-going way of life there, she was constantly homesick for New England. She finally returned, settling in Western Massachusetts in the spring of 1988. Since then, she has made a drastic career change, from graphics to education. She has spent the past twelve years working with immigrant teenagers at the public high school in Amherst, MA. She still hates school, but loves working with kids, so somehow it all works out. Playing and performing (and dancing to!) traditional and roots music remains her avocation and the primary basis of her social life. She lives in a neighboring town with a soccer-playing tortoise-shell cat named Gina.

| After graduating from NNHS, I went to Ithaca College and received a BA
in Economics. I actually met my future husband there, but didn't know it at
the time! As I had always loved the fashion business, I applied and was
accepted into the Bloomingdale's management training program in NYC. I ended
up staying with Bloomingdale's for eight years, where I rose through the
ranks to the men's European sportswear buyer. From Bloomingdale's, I went to work for Saks Fifth Avenue, also in New York City, as first the men's, and then the women's European and American designer buyer. It was a wonderful job as I spent a lot of time in Paris, Milan, and London. Oh, yes, somewhere in there I "re-met" Gary, my best friend, and we were married. A few years later, I had a daughter Alli, who is now twelve, and a son, Drew, who is now ten. As all of you who are parents know, they truly make my life complete. After realizing that my travel schedule was a bit hectic with two children, I took a job as the vice president of merchandising for Donna Karan. I stayed there for a year before I decided to stay home and be a mom! We moved to Chappaqua, New York, (yes, that's where Hillary and Bill moved to), but I didn't bring the secret service with me! I then started a personalized stationary and invitation business called "Perfectly Personal," which is now four years old and growing very nicely. I have also recently taken a part-time position at an interior design store. And, yes, for those who have seen my e-mail address, I play tennis at least twice a week and enjoy it very much! I look forward to seeing all of you at the reunion and wish you the best until then!

| I left Newton to go to Phillips Exeter Academy then on to Middlebury College. I re-met my husband, Norbert Vonnegut, at our Exeter 5th reunion. We moved to Melbourne, Australia in 1982, where I worked for the Australian equivalent of Standard & Poors. In 1984 we both returned to Boston to attend Harvard Business School. In 1986 we moved to Charleston, SC, where Norb grew up and where my children were born. In 1993 we moved to Rhode Island when I took a job as head of marketing for Ross-Simons. Then on to New York in 1994 after being recruited to run a catalog in New Jersey. Now I consult to catalogs and etailers part time. I play tennis and am about to finish a wonderful program in botanical illustration at the New York Botanical Gardens. That's it - in a nutshell! | ||

| A Brief History of Hugh
My family moved to Auburndale, Newton, when I was 2. I lived at 366 Central Street and walked to Williams school. I remember the whole thing like a little Ozzie and Harriet land. First Congregational Church at the end of the street. Little town square. Skating at The Cove. Great times, I think. I left Newton, and Williams, the summer after 4th grade. Moved to Sunny Florida. Gainesville, that is. Gators, Surfers, licks??? (what were licks?) Not at all the end of good times, but a big change for me. By 7th or 8th grade my interest in school had fallen to an amazing low but my interest in music had become consuming. Finished High School (in Gainesville), but never graced the Halls of Higher Ed - which is odd since BOTH my parents and ALL my siblings have multiple post graduate degrees. Maybe that's why. By the end of High School being a professional musician of the rock variety was all I considered. Not a posin', struttin', tight jeans, sort (though my jeans were not that loose), but an intelligent, progressive, posin' struttin' sort. Reality, though, raised it's inevitable head in the form of my father - "if you're not going to go to school then you must get a..." Lack of college has not stunted my professional life too much. Perhaps the fact that I never grew up and can't see beyond the various arts related dreams has had more effect. Other than working up to managing a restaurant (shortly after high school), everything has been music or audio engineering related. I owned a Recording Studio for a number of years, did product design and international distribution for an audio hardware company, wrote advertising music and jingles, and, oh, yeah - played in a few bands along the way. Currently I do freelance engineering for - mostly - television. It pays the bills and gives me time to go to the beach in Florida with my portable recording rig and write songs. Started my first novel. Never have been married, but came close a couple of times. I'm not ruling out a family, though, even at my advanced age. I like long walks in the park and romantic evenings at home. Call box 2442. Note: Hugh attempted to attend the reunion, but missed his flight, and spent the weekend sitting in an airport lounge instead of reunionating. I still regret missing that flight. Been depressed ever since. Counseling,
nothing seems to work. Going to try drugs. I bought a house late last year. It's moderately large, inside the Atlanta perimeter, on a dead end street in a quiet neighborhood, on almost an acre. And I stole it. It was a foreclosure. Beautiful thing. Benefit from others misery. Oh well.
