| Berendzen, Gail gberendzen@aol.com On the web: Northwood University Distinguished Women and www.womenhomepage.org |
| I student-taught and then was a teacher at Williams and would have loved to
have seen some of my students as adults and to hear how life has been for
them. And, of course, it would have been fun to see colleagues. I stopped
teaching in the 70s when my daughter was born. Some of you may remember this
and the surprise shower I was given in the classroom.
For the past 10 years, I have been president of a bi-coastal organization, Women of Washington, Inc. (Women Organized for Mentoring, Education and Networking). My daughter, Natasha, runs the West Coast affiliates in Los Angeles, Pasadena and Orange County, CA. and I fly back and forth between Washington, DC and California. If anyone is interested in more information about this, look at our website: www.womenhomepage.org or e-mail me and I will send a copy of our quarterly publication and a brochure. In the meantime, I send my best wishes to anyone who may remember me and for a wonderful reunion.

| I stopped teaching with the birth of our first child, Ernie C., '70. While my husband was
in general surgery residency with a stretch at NIH, we had three more children - Jonathan '73,
Christian '75, and Joanna '79. General Surgery was followed by a Plastic Surgery residency all at
the U. of Mich. In '81 we moved to Hummelstown where Ernest K. became a professor of surgery for Penn
State. I missed Ann Arbor, but the area where we lived near Hershey, PA had a unique appeal. Our
children grew up in a small community where everyone cared about them and many of their teachers
served as valuable mentors. I was able to help in the schools, and the community and I eventually
ended up on the school board for eight years. I am really proud of the framework we laid for growth
in our area and improving the standard of education.
Ernie C. is an Otolaryngologist and is at presend doing a Head and Neck Cancer Fellowship at Ohio State. Jonathan is a law student at Cornell with an emphasis on international law. Christian started a biotech business using a few of his father's patents, and Joanna graduated from Yale '01 and is trying to decide what she wants to do. I have worked for the biotech company, Promethean LifeSciences, Inc. since moving to Pittsburgh in '97. I SO enjoyed being your teacher thirty some years ago. You were so interested in learning and were really just a pleasure to teach. When I came to Williams in '67, I had just graduated from Oregon State. My love for the west has never diminished and since our relatives still all live west of the Mississippi, we go back to Oregon every year. Each year a family reunion is arrainged in Sunriver, Oregon and unfortunately it is on Aug. 3 this year. It was tough deciding that I couldn't go to the Williams reunion. I know you'll have a fantastic reunion! Many thanks to Arleigh and the other organizers. I would enjoy hearing from all of you.

| Kelley, William A. 11 Cousins St Salem, MA 01970 bnbkelley@hotmail.com bill@billkelleyphotographer.com Grade 5 wife Barbara, daughter Jamie |
| Bill and Barbara have just returned from an extended stay in Manipal, India, where Barbara
was teaching at the University there on a Fullbright Fellowship, with Bill 'tagging along', taking many
photos. Although they are back in the Boston area, at the time of this writing (19 July) they
still do not have a fixed address, because they sold their house prior to leaving, and haven't
settled back down yet. Their daughter Jamie was very helpful in our efforts to track them down.
Although technically retired, Bill continues to do photography, the profession he worked in after leaving Williams. Living in Salem, MA and working as a commercial photographer, Bill tolerated a number of visits by Matthew Antonellis and myself during the intervening years, although based on Jamie's memories of the fact that we visited on my motorcycle, our last visit would have been about 20 years ago now. -Arleigh
